A 1 Malaysia Oratorical Competition was held at Waziria Medical Square, Kepala Batas, Penang. The state level competition is organised by the Information Department of Malaysia and is open for non-Malays participants. The completion is organized by the Information Department of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture Malaysia with the aim of promoting the usage of Malay language by all races in the country. Apart from that, it is hope that the competition would increase awareness and internalization of the ‘1 Malaysia’ concept amongst the young generations. The theme chosen for the competition for 2012 is fine values such as humility, courtesy and respect.

Even though she is faced with a very tough competitors who come from all over the Penang state but she manage to deliver her speech with finesse and confidence. Winnie Jiau won a consolation prize for her first appearance in the competition and determined to get the first prize in the competition next year.
