foodFood Science Technology is a specialized study about the physical biological and chemical makeup of food, the concept underlying food processing and application of food science to selection, preservation, processing, packaging distribution and consumption of safe food.

The Diploma in Food Science and Technology offered by AUCMS covers a wide range of subjects aimed at developing highly knowledgeable, skilful and competent undergraduates who can assist in improving food production for general public by involving themselves in developing safe and nutritious food with innovative packaging.

Beside class-room teaching emphasis is also given to hands-on experience in laboratory practical. On top of that, the final semester is dedicated for industrial training which is expected to give the undergraduate ample exposure to latest techniques and advancement in the field as well as preparing them in all aspect working in an industrial environment.

Course Of Study

Diploma in Food Science and Technology is a three years program which aims to provide student with basic knowledge of food, its processing and handling methods. In order to achieve this the syllabus has been designed to create deep understanding of the science of food (Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Analysis, Food Sensory) and also the technology involved in food production (Food Preservation, Food Processing , Food Packaging , Food Quality Assurance}.

Assessments

Course assessments will be based on a combination of the following:

  • Lectures
  • Tutorials
  • Practical (Industrial Training)
  • Passed SPM/SPMV/O-level with 3 credits including any one of Science subject or
  • Passed Science Certificate with minimum CGPA of 2.0 from any institution that is recognized by the Malaysian Government
3 years (6 semesters)

January, April, July & October every year.
